Oregon law protects the relationship between a client and a psychologist so that information cannot be disclosed to a third party without written permission by the client (or client's parents if the client is a minor).
Allegations of abuse or suspected abuse of a minor will be reported to the appropriate authorities (DHS or police).
If a client is threatening serious harm to others, the police and the intended victim will be notified.
If a client is threatening serious harm to him/herself, I will attempt to obtain his/her cooperation in ensure his/her safety. In the event that a client chooses not to cooperate, I will take measures to maintain his/her safety which may include calling an ambulance and/or the police. In the case of a minor, his/her parents will also be notified.
