Psychiatrist M. Scott Peck begins his book, The Road Less Traveled, with the words "Life is difficult." During certain times throughout life, this statement rings true for all us. But sometimes, the challenges life presents us become so overwhelming that simple every day tasks become seemingly unbearable. No one likes to ask for help, but during such times, it is crucial. It is my goal to assist individuals to overcome life's obstacles thereby enabling them to become free to pursue their own hopes and dreams.
As a clinical psychologist, I value each person individually and work to facilitate each individual's goals in a safe, non-judgmental, supportive environment. I believe that the relationship between a client and his/her therapist is a fundamental part of treatment success. In order for therapy to be effective, a client must feel comfortable with his/her therapist and the therapist must have the expertise or skills necessary to meet the client's specific needs. As a result, I dedicate the first therapy session to getting know a client and his/her goals for therapy, establishing a connection with the client, and determining the potential for me to meet his/her needs. In the event that I believe that I am not the best fit, I am happy to provide a referral to someone who may be better qualified.
